IN BUSINESS
The conversion brands we carry
A “hauler” is a factory cab-and-chassis — Freightliner M2, Ford F-450/F-550, GM 3500 — finished by a specialist upfitter with a custom bed, an upgraded interior, and a suspension built to tow. Arizona buyers run the full range, from a triple-axle boat trailer to an enclosed car hauler, so the right build comes down to the load. Here’s who we stock and what sets each apart.
Laredo Conversions
Practical, payload-focused builds with a genuinely functional hauler bed and a comfortable cab, without the six-figure premium of the fully custom shops. We’re also the place to spec a new Laredo to your exact build.
SportChassis
The Freightliner-recognized name. OEM-completion M2 builds with composite hauler beds, factory-matched interiors, and the big-block torque the offshore crowd wants.
Schwalbe
Famous for the “Schwalbe Stretch,” a lengthened cab that turns the truck into a true four-door cabin with limo-like rear legroom and air-ride seating throughout.
Western Hauler
The old-school luxury benchmark: high-gloss walnut consoles, exotic leathers, western stitching, and heavy steel hauler beds.
Summit Hauler
Engineered around ride comfort, with sound-deadened soft-touch cabins and a bed design that helps the truck settle under load and cut driver fatigue.
Luxe Trucks
All-aluminum hauler beds and Trailer Saver hitches across Ford, Freightliner, and Dodge chassis; the sister brand to Luxe Fifth Wheels.
2L Customs
Show-truck attitude: custom paint, blacked-out trim, and personalized interiors that bridge a work truck and a statement piece.
Bolt Custom
Integrated-sleeper, open-concept cabins built in aluminum with vibration-proof fasteners for a light, rattle-free ride.
GEORGIA LIFESTYLE
Built for the Georgia lifestyle
A hauler only matters because of what it’s pulling. In Georgia, that’s usually one of three things.

Boats and lake life.
Lake Lanier runs hard all summer just north of Atlanta, and Lake Oconee anchors one of the Southeast’s most affluent lake communities — plus the coastal scene around Savannah and St. Simons. The right truck gives you the tow rating and the highway manners to move a real boat.

Horses.
From the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers — a 1996 Olympic venue — to the show and ranch scene across North Georgia, hauling living cargo means smoothness and reliability aren’t luxuries. They’re the point.

LICENSING
Do you need a CDL to drive a hauler truck in Georgia?
For personal use, no CDL is required — recreational and personal-use vehicles fall outside Georgia’s commercial definition, so a standard Georgia license covers the vast majority of haulers. Georgia does have non-commercial license classes for the heaviest single vehicles (a GVWR of 26,001 lbs or more), which involve a knowledge and skills test at a DDS Customer Service Center rather than a CDL.
In practice, pickup-based haulers (F-350, F-450, F-550, dually) keep you on a standard license, while a heavy medium-duty M2 build is where it’s worth checking. Confirm your specific truck with the Georgia Department of Driver Services.

Florida
No special license for personal use, any weight.
California
Truck/motorhome over 26,000 lbs or over 40 ft → non-commercial Class B.

Georgia emissions: easy for a hauler
This is where Georgia is genuinely simple. Emissions testing is only required in 13 metro Atlanta counties, and only for gasoline-powered cars and light trucks — and a hauler is exempt on two separate counts: diesel vehicles are exempt statewide, and so is any vehicle with a GVWR over 8,500 lbs. Every hauler we sell clears both bars, so emissions testing simply won’t be part of registering it, anywhere in the state.
That’s the opposite of California’s CARB regime, and a step easier even than Arizona. If you’ve been put off buying an older diesel hauler by another state’s rules, Georgia removes that hurdle entirely. (As always, confirm your specifics with Georgia’s Clean Air Force.)
TAX & TITLING
Buying from an out-of-state dealer: Georgia tax and titling
Georgia handles vehicle tax differently from most states, and it works in your favor over the long run. Instead of sales tax plus an annual “birthday” ad valorem tax, Georgia charges a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) — currently 7% of the vehicle’s fair market value — paid once when you title the truck. After that, you just pay a flat tag renewal each year. There’s no recurring value-based vehicle tax.

Emissions test for haulers
A truck bought out of state and titled in Georgia is subject to TAVT at titling, and you title and register within 30 days of purchase. On dealer sales, a trade-in reduces the taxable value. This is general guidance, not tax advice — confirm current figures with your county tag office or the Georgia Department of Revenue before you buy.

Frequently asked questions
For personal use, no. Arizona does not require a CDL or special non-commercial license to drive a hauler or RV for personal recreation, regardless of weight. A CDL only applies if you use the truck commercially. Confirm your situation with the Arizona MVD.
We carry used conversions from the major shops — Laredo, SportChassis, Schwalbe, Western Hauler, Bolt Custom, Summit, Luxe, and 2L Customs — built on Freightliner, Ford, GM, Peterbilt, and Kenworth chassis. We can also spec a brand-new Laredo to your build.
Arizona charges a 5.6% state use tax plus your city use tax (no county tax), with credit for sales tax paid in another state. On top of that, Arizona charges an annual Vehicle License Tax (VLT) based on the vehicle’s value, paid at registration and each renewal. Confirm current figures with the Arizona Department of Revenue.
Only if you register in the Phoenix (Maricopa) or Tucson (Pima) metro areas — and vehicles five model years old or newer are exempt there. Lake Havasu and most of the state are outside the program entirely. Unlike California, Arizona has no CARB engine-year requirement, so an older diesel hauler is far easier to register here.
Most of our inventory is hand-picked, reconditioned used trucks — we specialize in low-mileage, well-kept conversions. We also build new Laredo trucks to order for buyers who want to spec a truck from scratch.
For a big go-fast or a catamaran on a triple-axle trailer, a Freightliner M2-112 build gives you the capacity and the steadiest tow. For a mid-size boat or an enclosed car trailer, a Ford F-450/F-550 or dually handles it comfortably. Tell us the load and we’ll match the truck.
