Exotic Cabin Finishes
What makes a Laredo interior unique?
Known for their “Cowboy Cadillac” styling, these trucks feature exotic interiors, custom hauler beds, and the power to pull your horse trailer or luxury RV without compromising on comfort. Browse our inventory of premium used Laredo trucks below.

Laredo Conversions is famous for its “Western Luxury” aesthetic. Unlike standard factory leather, Laredo trucks feature hand crafted, exotic, high-grade upholstery materials that make a bold statement.
It is common to find genuine Ostrich, Gator, or suede accents on the seats and door panels. The seats are typically stripped down and hand crafted with high-density foam for long-haul comfort, then hand-stitched to perfection. Complemented by hydro-dipped wood grain dashes—often in Black Walnut or Burl Wood—the interior feels less like a truck and more like a high-end saddle.
Ford & Freightliner Platforms
Does Laredo build on Ford or Freightliner?
Laredo offers versatility by building on both Medium Duty and Heavy Duty chassis, giving you the choice between American muscle and commercial reliability.
- Ford F-450: A Laredo staple that bridges the gap between a pickup and a semi. These trucks feature the bold front grille of a Ford Super Duty but with the massive frame and braking power of a commercial truck, typically powered by the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel.
- Freightliner M2 106: For those needing maximum visibility and a tighter turning radius, the Freightliner M2 chassis offers a “cab-over” feel with commercial-grade reliability paired with drastically increased stopping capabilities. These trucks are typically powered by either the Cummins motor or the Detroit Diesel and paired to the ultra reliable Allison transmission
Towing & Storage Utility
What features come with a Laredo Hauler Bed?
The Laredo Hauler bed is engineered for serious towing, specifically for heavy gooseneck and 5th-wheel trailers. The bed usually features a 32,000 lb+ rated hitch, often recessed to provide a flat deck when not in use. Beyond the hitch, the skirted beds are designed with integrated locking storage compartments—perfect for stowing chains, fluids, and trailer gear securely. Topped with diamond plating or durable spray-liner and a custom headache rack, the bed protects the cab from shifting loads while looking aggressive on the road.

How does Laredo compare to Western Hauler and Sportchassis?
While both brands represent the pinnacle of towing luxury, Laredo leans heavily into the “Custom Exotic” look.
- Laredo Conversions: If you want exotic Ostrich interiors, a Ford F-650 chassis option, and a truck that stands out at the rodeo, Laredo is the top choice for bold styling.
- Western Hauler: The direct competitor, also very western-styled, but typically slightly more conservative in their finishings.
- SportChassis: Tends to be more “automotive” and understated (grey/tan leather, plastic trims) and focuses strictly on Freightliner, whereas Laredo gives you the popular Ford Super Duty option.
Laredo FAQs
In many cases, no. If you are using your Laredo truck strictly for personal recreational use—such as hauling your own horse trailer, boat, or RV—you typically do not need a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Ford F-650 Models: Laredo often specifications these trucks with a GVWR under 26,000 lbs specifically to keep them in the non-CDL class for most drivers.
Registration Matters: Registering the vehicle as a “Recreational Vehicle” or “Motorhome” (if your state allows) can further exempt you from commercial regulations.
Note: Always verify with your local DMV, as laws vary by state.
A Laredo Ford F-650 is significantly more capable than a standard dually pickup. When properly equipped with the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel, these trucks can tow between 30,000 to 37,000 lbs. They are designed to handle heavy 5th-wheel RVs and large horse trailers with stability that a standard F-350 or F-450 cannot match, thanks to the heavier commercial frame and braking systems.
One of the biggest advantages of owning a Laredo Ford F-650 is serviceability. unlike some custom heavy-duty haulers that require specialized semi-truck centers, a Laredo F-650 can generally be serviced at any Ford Commercial Truck Center. There are over 600 of these centers across the US, making it easier to find maintenance while you are on the road compared to other Class 8 conversions.
While fuel economy varies based on the load you are pulling, most owners report getting 8–10 MPG when towing heavy loads. While this sounds similar to a standard pickup, the difference is efficiency under load. A standard pickup struggles to maintain 8 MPG with a 20,000 lb trailer, whereas the larger Laredo diesel engine handles the weight with less stress, offering better longevity and consistent mileage.
Laredo Conversions builds on both 2WD and 4WD chassis. However, the Ford F-650 and Freightliner M2 models are most commonly found in 2WD (Rear Wheel Drive). This is because the heavy weight of the engine and the trailer pin weight provide massive traction. For buyers who absolutely require 4×4, Laredo also performs conversions on the Ford F-450 and F-550 chassis, which frequently come with 4WD.
